Friday 28th November was the evening booked for the It’s Christmas Time single launch party, although the single had been released on 17th November. It was a chance to have some fun after all the work of getting the single out. A lot of work had been put in to decorate The Forum with Taylor Made Dreams Christmas trees, a raffle, and a merch table, before the evening started with Milly McCarron.
A total of eight acts performed during the evening, a challenge for all those involved! Second on were Searching for Pie, who really got the party started.
Originally booked to headline, commitments on the Saturday meant they had to play early in the evening. A tricky change over to then get all of Ukelear Fallout on the stage…
After lots of hand-clapping and sing-along joining-in, the stage was then quickly cleared for Dan Clews, who took on a Q&A session while tuning his guitar, and brought along a band – on his phone!
We then had three incredible female based acts, McCrei, Millie Manders and band, and Kirsti Robinson and band, before the evening closed with 8 Car Attach.
Lead singer Dan Smith is from the video company Munro Productions, who made the video for the It’s Christmas Time single, and who had travelled to the UK from working in Russia, to perform at the party. Everyone had performed for free, and a total of £660 was raised on the evening, which will go to help children with life limiting illness achieve their dreams when time is short and also provide holistic therapeutic support. We ended the evening with rescuing helium balloons from the ceiling so the security alarms didn’t go off in the night!
If you would like to help – well the balloons are tidied up now – but you can help by visiting Amazon and downloading the single for 99p.
In the run up to Christmas I will be attempting a daily A-Z post, along with Tunbridge Wells Writers – have a look here – if I am idea-less on any day I may just add a link to the It’s Christmas Time video!!
