Planning the events for December in The Forum seem to have been going on since the long, hot days of summer. There’s been a lot on – sometimes I’ve just popped in for soundcheck (and the VIP meet and greet at Dorje). One band I enjoyed was TRAAMS (left) who were first support to The Wytches.
The following week it was a step back into the past with Space (not all original members) and The Jazz Butcher Quartet (not all original members). The Space night was incredibly energetic, whereas The Jazz Butcher was more laid back. Somewhere in the world of 1980s John Peel shows The Jazz Butcher had passed me by, but are now on a favourites list.
Non-stop Christmas shows started on Thursday 17th December with a solo show from Keane’s Tom Chaplin. We spent Friday night at The Assembly Hall watching Slaves – absolutely brilliant watching them energise a crowd of 1,000+ on their home-turf. Sunday and Tuesday at The Forum have been taken with local shows featuring friends made over the past three years of being involved with local music. A great end to the year. Also had the Deputy Mayor along. He had a nice time and said he’ll visit again.
